Princess Lalla Amina, chairwoman of Special Olympics Morocco and member of the Special Olympics International Advisory board, chaired, Sunday, the award ceremony of the Second Women's Race of Victory that took place in Rabat.

Hanane Bejjaoui from Chabab Hay El Hassan club dominated the race crossing the finish line in 28 min14 sec, ahead of Meryem Khali from the Forces Armées Royales club (FAR) and Hafida Nermouch (Fath Union Sportive), who clocked 29 min 01 sec and 29 min 44 sec respectively.

Awards were also presented to winners in the categories of Special Olympics Morocco, schoolgirls, Entraide Nationale (national mutual aid), and women over 60.

"This event aims to sensitize Moroccan women over the importance of sport as a means for social and professional integration, encourage them to join the national sports movement, and contribute to promoting physical exercise for women," two-time World 400m Hurdles champion and chairwoman of the "Women, Acheivments and values" NGO, Nezha Bidouane told MAP.

Some 20,000 women participated in the race against 17,000 the previous year, said Bidouane who was extremely proud of the turn-out.

The event that stretched 8 kilometres was held by the "Women, Acheivments and values" NGO.
