Triathlon of Agadir on 12November 2011


Nearly 150 elite athletes and fans are expected in the first Agadir Triathlon, scheduled for November 12, organizers announced Friday.
The event, initiated by the Moroccan Royal Federation of Sport for All and the French Triathlon Federation, will meet the Olympic distance (1500m swim, 40km bike and 10km run), they provided during a press briefing held Friday in Agadir.
The Triathlon of Agadir, which reinforces the will of the first resort of national position on the segment of sports tourism, will be "the destination end of the season for many athletes, including French," said the director of the event, French Gilles Gaubert.
Agadir offer, he said, an "exceptional triathlon." The course has already received the label "African Cup Triathlon" of the International Federation of Triathlon, taking into account criteria related to the quality of the route, security and reception facilities.
A number of world-class triathletes should make the trip to Agadir, some of which qualified for the London Olympics in 2012.

The French delegation will include, the European Champion 2011, Emmie Charayron and
, Laurent Vidal N.7 in the world and French champion in 2009 and 2011.
More than a hundred fans should also be in the race, a third of Moroccans.
Speaking on behalf of the Royal Moroccan Federation of Sports for All, as it's Vice President, the former world champion in 400m hurdles, Nezha Bidouane, said that participation in the organization of this event is a way of promoting sports for all, focusing on providing social and educational sport.
Triathlon is a complete sport, as it is to bind the three most basic sports practiced in the world: swimming, cycling and running, she said.
Nezha Bidouane also indicated that a Moroccan federation Triathlon will be created soon to support the promotion of this sport.
Morocco is already home to a triathlon in Larache, which is one of the stages of the African Cup, along with similar events in Port Elizabeth and Pretoria in South Africa, Mombassa in Kenya or
Troutbeck in Zimbabwe .
